And last, but certainly not least, the only unofficial member of the guard. I guess you would call her a page at this point, and then she'll be a squire in her teen years...? I don't know, but yeah.

Name: Elspeth “the Bold”
Age: 10
Height: 4’ 3”
Weight: 70
Swan Type: Blacked-Neck ( www.williamoptics.com/wo_gal/c… )
Weapon Specialty: Learning broadsword and shield
Home Region: Unknown (the Lake)
Parents: Starr and Val
Personality: She definitely lives up to her nickname. Fear isn’t even in Elspeth’s vocabulary, and just watch her charge right into any situation with a hellion’s whoop. An active little thing, she loves dancing and darting all over the village, running around with other children in little flocks. But she’s still a little girl, and any kind of pain will send her into tears. She has a plush white rabbit lovey that she hides under her covers until bedtime named Snuggles, who if he’s any less than pristine white, tears will be had. Her favorite food is apple pocket pies, and like all children everywhere, it’s a chore to get her to eat her veggies. She has no real concept of diplomacy, and with a child’s bluntness, she will say what she thinks, though thankfully she has been taught not to offer an opinion unless asked.
Bio: Adopted by a cousin of her birth mother as just a baby when her mother returned from her cape being stolen pregnant, Elspeth is being raised by who she considers her real fathers, Starr and Val. To avoid picking a favorite, she hasn’t taken either of their names for her surname, and as a result is referred to somewhat jokingly as “the Bold” instead. The Lake is the only home she’s ever known, especially among the male guards, Daddy-Val serving as one of them while Daddy-Starr serves as their quartermaster. Starr is teaching her how to use a blade (it’s…early days yet).

Elspeth has quickly come to idolize the Champion’s Guard, and is quite insistent that one day she will serve with them, maybe even be Lady Champion. She made a bit of a pest of herself with Eira for a long time. However, because Eira is used to small children, she quickly sought out Elspeth’s parents and reached an agreement. While Eira is in the Lake or anywhere horribly formal, she serves as a page or squire of sorts, eventually getting training under some of the guards. Elspeth takes her duties quite seriously, and is quickly becoming a favorite among the guard members. She isn’t old enough to have her cape yet, but can’t wait to turn thirteen so she can and be considered a real swan maiden.

Eventually, Elspeth will grow up and serve as Eira’s second, once Tore, Jordis, and Rowen have all retired.

And the last member of the official Champion's Guard is DONE. And just when I thought this group of females was almost too perfect, Vigdis comes along to be the kind of girl you just love to hate.

Name: Vigdis Torfusdottir
Age: 98
Height: 5’ 9”
Weight: 145
Swan Type: Black ( www.sciencebrainwaves.com/wp-c… )
Weapon Specialty: Double broadswords
Home Region: Australia
Parents: Torfa
Personality: One of the few that Eira wishes someone would challenge and get out of her guard, Vigdis is an utter girly-girl, much like Rowen and Jordis, only without Rowen’s virtues or Jordis’s usefulness. Instead, Vigdis gossips, cares primarily for her vanity, and views the Guard as simply a way to get away from her parents’ village and possibly settle elsewhere. And with her dark hair and human eye color, she manages to attract the swan men like flies to honey, which doesn’t help matters at all, since she will take any opportunity to flirt and add to her collection of admirers. Thankfully for Eira’s sanity, Vigdis has an excellent sense of self-preservation, and will focus when called upon. She primarily works with one of the sword and shield users or archers, or even guards Jordis if something happens and the healer ends up in the middle of a battle. It’s her decency with her weapons that keeps Eira from outright dismissing her, though at times the Lady Champion is tempted. Severely tempted.
Bio: Vigdis’s mother didn’t have her cape stolen, though getting Vigdis to admit this is like pulling her teeth in swan form. Rather, Torfa met and fell in love with a human man, choosing to become mortal and live alongside him. However, she gave each of her children the option of going to live among the swan people. Vigdis was considered pretty in her home village, but with two older sisters, she had competition she didn’t want to deal with. As a result, she happily took her mother up on her offer, wanting away from her family.

Only to end up living with her even stricter grandparents, and later her great-aunt after one stunt too many. None of them were willing to put up with Vigdis’s flirty ways, and quickly set limits, curfews, and as many boundaries as they dared. The great-aunt was the one who shoved Vigdis into her local guard, hoping that being away from the males of the village would solve the problems the flirty girl was causing and make Vigdis grow up. Unfortunately, Vigdis refused to be broken to bridle, and looked for the best opportunity to escape.

She found it during her first visit to the Lake. Vigdis immediately fell in love with the bustling trading town, and the idea of being a member of the Guard (and thus, having access to as much freedom as she could desire) was too appealing. As soon as she considered it the best timing, she petitioned to challenge into the Champion’s Guard, though without her grandparents’ and great-aunt’s blessings, since they weren’t sure she was mature enough to leave their village. Unfortunately, Vigdis did manage to earn her way onto the Guard, and has no intentions of ever returning home. It’s why she toes the line of Eira’s last good nerve, lest she be sent home out of disgrace.

And here is the shortest (and angriest) of the Guard... Sorry for the long delay, illness and the winter holidays kinda kicked my butt. I'm hoping to have all of these finished this weekend, though. All of them are inked, I just have two more to color and do bios.

Name: Herdis Unnarsdottir
Age: 164
Height: 5’ 6”
Weight: 130
Swan Type: Whooper ( cdn2.arkive.org/media/BA/BA75B… )
Weapon Specialty: Broadsword and Shield
Home Region: Greece
Parents: Unnarr and Bolla
Personality: Jokingly referred to as a keg of flour, most people don’t understand and assume that she is gentle and domestic (which she can be). In reality, it is a reference to the right spark will make her explode as badly as gunpowder, just more unexpectedly. Herdis is normally painfully quiet, refusing to talk more than a few words at a time. She moves with tense, brisk movements, and avoids any and all physical contact. But when she’s angry, she is a near-berserker, raging against her target with an intensity that is frightening. The anger is misplaced, but a near-weapon that she isn’t afraid to use. Of all the members of the Guard, she has the strongest hatred for medians. Like Eira, she is more of an all-purpose hand at chores, though she does weave elaborate blankets and tapestries.
Bio: Herdis was part of a large family located on a Greek island. She had no real desire to learn how to use a weapon, and was more than content to spend her life in the kitchen and house. Her mother and aunts taught her spinning wool and weaving, the family trade, but the family flocks were enormous, and Herdis had to spend her time watching over them like all the other children did. As she got older, she also started accompanying some of the younger girls so they weren’t on their own with just the sheep and maybe some dogs with them. For the most part, Herdis was safe and content among the numerous members of her family, if slightly bored due to how safe everything was.

They had gotten complacent.

One day, while she and a younger cousin were lunching, they were ambushed by two human boys from a nearby island. Their swan skins were stolen, and neither maiden had any weapon’s training to defend themselves. They were shanghaied off to the boys’ home island and married, Herdis to the eldest son of the family who quickly used his marriage as an excuse to set off as a household of his own. Herdis was practically his slave, with no way of getting saved until she found her swanskin. In the meantime, she suffered from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse from her husband. She became pregnant from several of her assaults, but only three of her children were live births: two daughters and a son.

It was the middle daughter who finally found Herdis’s swanskin, and the three children helped their mother to flee their father’s custody for the safety of her own family. They were welcomed back with joy, and sadness for the cousin who Herdis hadn’t seen since they had been kidnapped. A few months in the safety of her family does wonders for Herdis’s all-around health, especially as one of her brothers starts teaching her how to wield a sword and shield. As soon as he pronounces her able, she returns to her “husband’s” island, making herself a widow and finding out where her cousin is, rescuing her and her children as well.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. Herdis was full of too much anger and pain to raise her children, and acknowledged it. She was able to channel some of that anger in teaching all the girls old enough to wield a blade how, but soon found that there were others who were better teachers in her family. Instead, Herdis traveled to the Lake, hoping to join the Guard and find a chance to heal away from her home, for the safety of her children. Her hatred of medians comes from her past experience, since she wouldn’t want another maiden to be stuck experiencing what her or her cousin went through.

Name: Gersemi Nikolassdottir
Age: 2179
Height: 6'
Weight: 157
Swan Type: Tundra, subspecies Bewick's ( www.birdwatchireland.ie/Portal… )
Weapon Specialty: Battle Axe
Home Region: Russia/China (migrant)
Parents: Nikolas and Disa
Personality: Brash and bold on a good day, Gersemi is usually full of cheer and song (though they are usually of the dirty variety). She doesn't hesitate to let her opinion known, though she is easily overruled by logic. She is a friend of everybody, and it takes effort to make her angry at you for longer than a few minutes. But on the bad days? She takes everything as a provocation to fight, and will gladly take up the challenge with a smile on her face. She will remind you of every time you've offended her over the last week, and it takes physical force to make her realize that her (often aggressive) actions are far from the best idea. Thankfully, her bad days are few and far between. In battle, she has berserker tendencies, which is why she wears so little armor beyond her body suit and chainmail. As a result, she is usually placed with the archers to watch their backs or in the front, depending on the strategy at the time.
Bio: Born in one of the few migrant groups of swan people, though she swears during her childhood they weren't nearly as rare, Gersemi was raised in parts of Russia and China, depending on the time of year. Her parents were weavers and traders, specializing in silks of rare hues. As a result, her childhood was very privileged, and very different from the normal swan maiden mythos. Unlike with the normal village, all the warriors of her village stuck to the caravan for protection, and valkyries were rare instead of normal. She should have been the perfect lady, and for most of her early years she was, though it itched her personality something fierce.

Then their family was attacked on the road one winter. Gersemi was being led off to be protected with the other maidens when the bandits attacked her older brother and herself. Her brother was killed in front of her, and in a desperate move to save her own life, she picked up his axe. What happened next is a blank in her memory, but the evidence spoke for itself. Three of their attackers died at her hands.

Her berserker state couldn't be ignored. Her parents turned to one of the few valkyries in the caravan, who took Gersemi under her wing. It wasn't quite the place her parents intended for her, but it made due.

The Lightbringer Wars wiped most of Gersemi's traveling village out. One of the survivors led them to the Lake, where the others found new lives…but not her, at least not at first. Before she could fall too far into a barrel of ale, she was found by the then-second to the Lady Champion, Kari, and invited to try for the guard. While her berserker state made them wary, the Guard couldn't deny both her skill and her need and drew her into the fold. Gersemi began to think of the Guard as her new family, the Lake her home, and thought herself happy.

The Shadow War are a hazy blur of battle after battle in her mind. Kari relied a little too heavily on her berserker rage to get the Guard through its worse fights, and while Gersemi is glad she doesn't have the memories to weigh on her soul, she does feel incredible guilt. She attempts to hide that guilt, but on some days, she can't help it, and lashes out. It's only gotten worse as all this new (and needed, if you force her to admit it) blood has come into the Guard, including a new Lady Champion.

But one time testing Eira's calm nature too many showed her that she couldn't bully her way around anymore, and on the Champion's orders, she's being very carefully watched by the second. As a result, Iduna and Tore have become her confidants, and her sources of comfort on the bad days. When she is feeling okay, though, she spends her time with the twins, training them up.

Name: Signe Domaradottir
Age:  55
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 142
Swan Type: Black ( www.sciencebrainwaves.com/wp-c… )
Weapon Specialty: Hand and a half sword
Home Region: New Zealand
Parents: Domari and Yrsa
Personality: Raised like the son her family didn't have, Signe is a tomboy through and through. She's extremely protective of those she considers under her charge, be it sisters or fellow Guard members (much to their annoyance). She's known for having a trickster's heart, playing pranks and jokes, but she's always careful not to hurt anyone's feelings if she can help it. Because of her preference for a heavier blade than women usually use, she has to practice every day and has special exercise to do in the mornings and evenings to build and maintain the muscles needed. Despite being a daddy's girl and spending little time with her parents' flocks, she is a skilled weaver of tapestries and rugs.
Bio:  Unlike her twin sister Sigdis, Signe had very little to do with her parents' farm. She was a morning lark, up with the sun and begging to be taken with her father to check his traps and anything other than tend sheep. Amused, her father let her accompany him, which is how Signe first saw the local squad of swan maidens as they returned home from their travels. She immediately wanted to be one of them, and started training. The only weapon available for her to teach herself how to fight was her grandfather's old hand and a half. But Signe wasn't daunted, and tried anyway.

But she was still a young child, and with a near-identical sister, there was plenty of trouble to get into and cause. Even with Sigdis not ratting her out, Signe got caught in plenty of pranks and tricks. The punishment was her mother forcing her to sit beside her and weave. As a result, Signe got very good at it—better than Sigdis, since being an archer ruined her little sister's fingers for weaving. Her eldest sister soon took pity on her, and taught Signe how to judge whether a prank or trick would be inconsiderate. Not only did it get Signe in less trouble, but it also brought some lightness to her family, who were somewhat grim by nature.

Once in her twenties, Signe joined the village squad of swan maidens. It wasn't the largest, and so rising through the ranks was easy enough. She was a second before she knew it, even if all the traveling was sometimes hard on her, due to the separation from her twin. She relied on the slight link between them to tell her if there was a problem back home, and was thankful when there was never a problem. However, Signe could tell her squad leader was a "lifer," someone who would never willingly settle down, which left her with nowhere else to go.

Until the news came that there was a new Champion, who was more than willing to take on new guards instead of protecting the old ones. Signe was the first in her squad to run to her parents and ask permission to at least try. She was surprised but definitely pleased when Sigdis asked to go with her, though she hasn't pried as to why her homebody twin would suddenly want to leave their home. Signe is close friends now with Gersemi, and hasn't bothered to rise very high in the ranks yet. In her opinion, there is plenty of time for that as she gets older.

Name: Sigdis Domaradottir
Age:  55
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 140
Swan Type: Black ( www.sciencebrainwaves.com/wp-c… )
Weapon Specialty: Longbow/Healing
Home Region: New Zealand
Parents: Domari and Yrsa
Personality: Referred to in their home town as the "pretty twin," Sigdis would actually prefer to not be noticed. She's very subdued and quiet, preferring to read or listen to stories or gossip, rather than being the center of it. The boys in their home village chase after her, but she manages to keep running ahead of them to avoid being saddled with children who think they are men. Perhaps because of her serious nature, she often ends up "baby-sitting" her big sister. She's somewhat slow in her movements, but she's also got a very canny eye and an almost eerie ability to make even the most awkward of shots. She can also be as quiet as a shadow, making her the group sniper/trick shot. Jordis is teaching her about healing, recognizing someone who has the patience for memorization in her. She has a beautiful singing voice—a rich, clear soprano.
Bio:  Born to a pair of sheep farmers (because even swan maidens need wool and like the taste of mutton), Sigdis frequently volunteered for the night sheep watch, even during the winter. Not only did she prefer the solitude of the watches with just her and the silly sheep, but she is a natural night-owl, well prepared for handling the late hours. Initially, she used a sling to scare away wolves and the like, but her grandfather taught her how to use a bow when he saw how sharp of an eye she had. She would practice during her watches, and eventually was the best shot for miles around.

When they were younger, Sigdis and Signe were nearly identical. Sigdis often caught flack for things her sister did, but Sigdis would never rat out her sister. As they grew older, though, Signe's face grew sharper while Sigdis's stayed round, and while Signe was spending time with their father, Sigdis spent time with their mother and older sisters. As a result, Sigdis would go into the nearest villages on market days. There, she caught more than her fair share of attention from the local boys. At first, Sigdis didn't know how to handle their attention, having no brothers, so she tried just being friendly.

It backfired. Her actions were interpreted as flirting, and she quickly had a little flock of boys chasing after her like lambs—loud, annoying little lambs. Worse still, the boy her parents had picked out and betrothed to her eldest sister to in place of a son was one of them. Sigdis was floundering as to what to do when news about Eira's defeat of Kari reached their village. Signe immediately wanted to leave her squad to challenge into the Guard, and despite not being part of the local squad herself, Sigdis immediately tagged along with the argument that someone needed to keep an eye on her twin.

Until things settle down at home, Sigdis is more than willing to spend time as part of the Guard. She knew a bit of crude field healing, but has been learning more refined measures under Jordis, including treating swan people in their swan forms so they transfer cleanly and smoothly back into human forms without bones healing incorrectly. She mostly sticks close to Jordis and Rowen if she isn't with her sister, and gets shy when singled out for attention by Eira, Tore, or Rowen.

Brenda was determined to be different all across the board. I hereby dub her the "Pinkie Pie" of the group.

Name: Brenda Randadottir
Age: 340
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 143
Swan Type: Whooper ( cdn2.arkive.org/media/BA/BA75B… )
Weapon Specialty: Broadsword and Shield
Home Region: Great Britain
Parents: Randi and Gynna
Personality: A bit of a space case, Brenda lacks a little in focus. How she got as far as she has gotten in her life comes down to pure dumb luck (which also sums up her fighting style pretty well, probably why she sticks to a sword and shield). However, she is also happy and bubbly, a source of optimism even at the hardest of times. She is helplessly in love at the moment, much to the good-natured annoyance of most of the group, but she will focus if it is really important. If anything, her partner has steadied her a bit, and that's saying something. For all her age, she isn't quite as worldly as Eira and some of the others, having really stayed on the main island until she challenged for her place on the guard. She often uses strange turns of phrase that the other girls don't quite understand until she explains. But her good-nature makes her a quick favorite of anyone the Guard runs into on their travels. She dislikes the typical long hair and the maintenance it requires, so she runs to Jordis with a knife after she's transformed every time for a hair cut.
Bio:  Another country girl, Brenda grew up far away from the one (and only) settlement of her people on the main island. As a result, it was mostly herself, her parents, and her two sisters on their small farm, trading with whoever passed them by on their way to human settlements, mostly gypsies and the like. Once a year, her father would leave and go the settlement, and once she was old enough Brenda started begging to go with him. She was quickly enamored with the local swan maidens and their way of life, and taught herself how to use a sword and shield out of an old stick and a bit of building-siding that was half-rotten and unbalanced. Perhaps because of her unwieldy weapons, she developed the ability to use even the worst-balanced weapon or shield.

It wasn't until she was well into her eighties that Brenda was able to get a position on her local squad, and even then it was because there literally was no one else ready to take up the position. She quickly fell into the group, but disliked being bound to the island except for the meeting at the Lake every three years. But she also didn't like the current Champion well enough to serve as her Guard. She was one of the first to take the opportunity to challenge into the Guard when Eira opened up the options, and has been a part of it since the early days.

Brenda met her partner at the Lake when Kata came to live with her grandparents who have an inn for other types of Solifidians there. Kata's father had died in battle when she was very young, and her mother had just married a human thanks to him stealing her swan skin while she wasn't paying close enough attention. It was love at first sight, at least for Brenda. Kata took a little more convincing. But just as the couple had finally made plans to wed, Kata's mother returned with three young children of varying ages. Kata immediately stepped in to help raise her siblings as her mother struggled with her experience and the constant reminder in her children's faces.

Initially, Brenda was all for her and Kata just adopting the new siblings and moving to spare her mother from having to see them, letting her heal in the safety of her parents' house. However, Kata's mother nearly went insane when she thought she was going to lose her children, immediately making that idea impossible. Kata (and Jordis, who examined the traumatized woman at Brenda's request) believes that losing the children one at a time to apprenticeships, marriages, and just lives of their own will be easier on her, so until the youngest, who is currently only six, is old enough to leave the nest, Kata stays to make sure the family runs smoothly. And Brenda patiently waits for her partner to be ready, willingly serving alongside Eira until then.

Guess who forgot to do laundry? *eyeroll* So I finished this while waiting on the dryer to go off. Work tomorrow is going to suck...

Name: Jordis Stefnisdottir
Age:  765
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 140
Swan Type: Tundra, subspecies Whistling ( www.tringa.org/images/0305_Tun… )
Weapon Specialty: Healing/Throwing Daggers
Home Region: Scandinavia
Parents: Stefnir and Otama
Personality: A quiet, gentle soul, Jordis is the group mother in a sense. She dislikes fighting, but is handy to have around in the aftermath due to her healer's training and no-nonsense approach to it. Sweet-natured, she is often mistaken as being younger than her two friends, Rowen and Eira, but if anything she is more cynical than either of them. Despite the impracticality of skirts, she wears them because, "It's like traveling wearing emergency bandages." She's a bit of a klutz, but as long as she doesn't have to move much, she's a decent fighter, usually with throwing daggers that she keeps tucked into her sash. Her knowledge of herbs is second to none, not to mention her deft skill with a knife, making her the best cook in the group.
Bio: The daughter of the village smith, Jordis enjoyed rather high status within their village as a result. The light grey of her eyes comes from her paternal grandmother briefly losing her swan skin until her father and aunt retrieved her swan skin and returned them to the village. Her father's eyes are bright blue, but Jordis got a mix of his grey and Otama's dark grey.

Her mother was part of the local squad who didn't retire after Jordis was born, merely stepping down for a few years to get Jordis walking and capable of moderately looking after herself before jumping right back in. Jordis was very resentful towards Otama once she realized this was going on, and devoted herself to being as lady-like as possible to spite her. By fourteen, she was the village darling and treated like she was near nobility, her manners were so careful.

Her father wanted her to be able to defend herself, though, especially when he took on a young apprentice close to her in age. As a result, she learned how to use small throwing daggers that were easy to hide in sleeves or in sashes. Her love of cooking led to her befriending the local healer, who taught her all about herb craft and later other healing techniques when Jordis showed interest. The healer even made overtures to Stefnir to take her on as an apprentice full-time, and to later make Jordis into the resident healer, or at least a second one. Her life was going exactly counter to Bahamut.

Then the healer in the female squad decided to retire. Rowen managed to persuade Jordis to join until another maiden showed interest in both fighting and healing, and Jordis reluctant joined the same group as her mother. Otama, for her part, wasn't happy with the "embarrassment" she felt Jordis was as a valkyrie, and spent most of her free time bullying her daughter in an attempt to drive her back home. Jordis was completely miserable, and was only happy when the squad returned home, when she could temporarily return to her old life and the protection of her father.

Eira came on, and she became Jordis's defender, even from Otama. Together with Rowen, they made the entire lifestyle different for her. Jordis felt nearly-happy, especially when her father's apprentice and her long-time friend, Sokki, proposed to her. They hand-fasted, betrothing them, but agreed to wait until they had enough money to move to another village in need of a smith rather than stay as apprentices in their home village their whole lives. Eira was made leader and kicked Otama and her bullying ways out of the group (along with a lecture on responsibilities as a wife), and Jordis thought things were settling down.

But then Eira went and became Lunar Champion. And while Jordis would have preferred to stay with her home village, one of her mother's friends became the new leader and she didn't dare stay behind. She wormed her way into the Guard, and continues to serve alongside her friends. She is training one of the newer members in healing, though, and saves every penny she can in hopes of being able to retire soon before Bahamut makes another shift. She is jokingly referred to as "Cinderella" by the other girls, partly because of her kind nature, most because of her small hands and feet. The locket at her throat is the gift marking her betrothal.

Slightly disappointed in the length on this one, but this is all she'd tell me. Little secret keeper...

Name: Iduna Makanardottir
Age:  1061
Height: 6'
Weight: 155
Swan Type: Mute (4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q381BJU5zH0… )
Weapon Specialty: Spear (Glaive)
Home Region: North Africa
Parents: Makan and Ingrid
Personality: A literal mute while in human form and only capable of the quiet sounds of her swan species in swan form, Iduna "speaks" using a sign language developed by the mute swan villages so they can speak with each other. Maybe because of her required silence, maybe because only half of the other girls can "speak" her language, but she's become the group secret keeper—different from Rowen's gossiping, anything told to Iduna stays secret unless indicated otherwise. Despite her silence, Iduna is actually very confident and sure of herself. She's graceful, both in combat and in the circle dances, and plays a lap harp at times. She's well-trained in her family's craft—weaving—and even made the cloth belt Eira wears as Champion.
Bio: Born in one of the very rare villages located in North Africa, both of Iduna's parents were weavers, selling their work at human markets. As a result, Iduna knows more about humans than most others. She is comfortable interacting with them, maybe because she buckles her skin so effectively to her vest, a habit of all mute swan maidens. She joined her local squad in her forties, and has been traveling ever since. She joined the Champion's Guard when a slot opened up, and her region wanted representation among the elite swan maidens.

Not everything was roses, though. The Shadow Wars left a hard mark on Iduna, as she watched both Solifidians and humans fall. Afterwards, she tried to return home to recover, but found that very few could understand what she had been through. As a result, she has dedicated herself to the Guard. She partially blames herself for Kari banning challenges for Guard positions, suspecting Kari realized that some of them needed the Guard just to adjust to the new world after the harsh wars.

Iduna is happy with her place in the Guard. As a mute, she can't really get command in a combat situation like Rowen or Tore can, or participate in any diplomatic discussions. But one-on-one, she can maintain solid group relations, and she is solid in the long-reach weapons, an area the Guard is severely lacking in. She's closest with Herdis than any of the others, perhaps sensing another damaged soul in that tiny package.

And here comes the third in command, Rowen. She's sort of the other extreme from Tore, which I guess makes Eira the middle ground. Wow, strange thought... Or maybe Rowen is the empathy to Tore's logic, which is an important balance for a leader to have. Bah, I get philosophical when I'm sleepy. On with the bio!

Name: Rowen Anadottir
Age:  78
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 143
Swan Type: Tundra, subspecies Whistling ( www.tringa.org/images/0305_Tun… )
Weapon Specialty: Longbow/Twin Daggers
Home Region: Scandinavia
Parents: Ani and Johanna
Personality: Rowen is the group flirt and girly-girl. She likes seeing what the traders have in each town they visit, and isn't above shorting her food rations to get a better cut of cloth. Usually she is wearing some sort of face paint, and her clothes and jewelry are usually of the best quality. That said, she will always pitch in around camp, and doesn't mind traveling near as much as people would expect from her. She has an eye for jewelry and rare metals (she picked out the stones for Eira's armor), and is thrifty with her coins, earning her the keys to the coin box for the group as a whole. A bit of a gossip, she will gather information more than she'll spread it, and is known for being a sympathetic ear if one of the girls needs it. She does better as a ranged fighter and has the fastest draw among the entire race, even capable of firing more than one arrow at the same time. But in close quarters, she's just as dangerous with her twin daggers.
Bio: Born in the same village as Eira is from, she was born in town and grew up at the village inn that also stood as the source of most of the trading that happened. Her parents ran the inn, and Rowen quickly got an education in how to manage a staff as her mother reigned as queen of both her household and the temporary houses of the guests. It was also where she first encountered various traders, who taught her the quick tricks to knowing quality at a glance. When she wasn't at the inn helping, Rowen would sneak off to watch the village guardsmen train, since they are primarily archers. A little flirting when she was fourteen earned her some archery lessons, and it was soon obvious that she had the muscle and the eye to be an amazing archer.

Her parents surprised her on her sixteenth birthday with a bow and quiver of her own, and her father started teaching her himself. Ani was a locally renown archer during his time serving, and he passed all of his knowledge on to Rowen. Not to be outdone, Johanna taught Rowen her own tricks with twin daggers, wanting to make sure her daughter was safe even when her quiver was empty. Even as she kept working at the inn to help her parents, Rowen slowly gained more and more skill, and she caught the attention of the female squad leader.

Rowen joined the guard a little on the young side for them (when she was almost fifty), but quickly earned the respect of her fellow guards. And when this short, fierce country girl joined up, Rowen was the first to make friends with Eira. They have been almost joined at the hip ever since. Lacking in the sheer level of ambition (or maybe bluntness) than her friend, Rowen is much more content to ride the waves of Fate and Bahamut where ever they happen to lead her… As long as she gets to have fun along the way, of course.

Of all the swan maidens in the squad, Rowen has left the longest string of broken hearts behind her. She always finds someone to flirt with, though she also insures that her new friends know that it's only temporary. She hasn't found any one worth settling down for, at least not yet, though she dreams of running an inn of her own someday with her own little family. Perhaps because of her own dreams, she really pushes for her fellow Guards to have their own fun in hopes of finding their ones (except for the couple who are already well on their way without her prodding). More than anyone else, Eira worries her, since Rowen wants her sister-in-soul to be happy in her role of authority and is afraid she's too dedicated to being Champion and not enough to being a real, breathing person.

First new swan maiden (who may be completely different from what anyone is thinking, oh well). She turned into a female Alberich on me, which was surprising, but meh.

Name: Tore Freyardottir
Age:  623
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 148 lbs
Swan Type: Trumpeter ( upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… )
Weapon Specialty: Dual broadswords
Home Region: Alaska
Parents: Frey and Astrid
Personality: Very cold and traditional, Tore is the resident joy-killer…and glorifies in it. While Eira is the final word on discipline, Tore considers it her duty to keep it from getting that far, as well as keeping the Guard at the top of their game (when Eira isn't chasing them in circles in the practice grounds, anyway). Duty is important to Tore; she is teaching the traditions associated with the Guard to both Eira and Rowen, and reminds Eira of them whenever they are relevant. She is quick and brutal in combat, though she is capable of mercy and has more honor than any other member of the Guard. She doesn't have the same graceful freedom of movement outside of combat that she has with her swords, so she doesn't dance, but she has a beautiful singing voice. Her food is near inedible, so she's never on cooking duty, but she is capable of beautiful embroidery—she is responsible for Eira's Champion underdress (it's more than a skirt, and the sleeves and collar have the same designs as the skirt hem).
Bio: Born among humans, Tore was the result of a swan maiden losing her swan skin to a mortal man…for a time. It's why her eyes are an uncharacteristic (for swan maidens) blue. When Tore was ten, she led her mother to the hidden swan skin (as the story dictated), and the two returned to her mother's home settlement where they were welcomed with open arms into their family. However, her mother wasn't able to live with Tore as a reminder of her past. Thankfully, her older brother and his wife, unable to have children of their own, formally adopted Tore, making her his daughter in every sense of the word as far as their culture is concerned. Tore was terrified she wasn't going to get a swanskin, but her first transformation at the next full moon put that fear away.

A very serious and quiet child, Tore was content to spend her first couple of decades in the small village, learning very slowly and carefully how to fight to the best of her ability. But her eyes set her apart, and she knew it made some of the others uncomfortable. Rather than go first through her own, local squad to wet her feet, she went straight for the Guard. Kari admired her spunk, and rather than putting her through the normal challenge-process when she feared Tore wasn't ready, she took Tore on as an eleventh member of her Guard, with no authority until she ousted another member of the Guard.

Tore took the opportunity for what it was, and spent about five years traveling with the Guard, discovering the weaknesses of the various members and making her challenge when she thought the timing was right. Kari was so impressed by her careful planning that she bullied the then-second to start immediately training Tore to follow in her place as second only a century later.

Maybe it was gratitude that blinded her, or maybe Tore was just naïve that others of her kind weren't quite as honorable. She served alongside Kari for centuries, yet when Kari began to be corrupted by the power, Tore didn't try and rein her in. It wasn't until confronted by the other squad leaders and seconds that Tore realized how bad the situation was…and it felt like they were holding knives to her heart, as her precious honor came into question. She wanted to offer Eira help with Kari, but tradition insisted that she serve quietly as Kari's second. However, she was the one who took Kari's cape and handed it to Eira to do what she willed, and would have killed the former Champion if Eira had ordered it so.

Tore has found a home in the Lake, where traders, other Solifidians, and swan maidens live side-by-side. She is getting tired of traveling, especially with how much Eira insists on being on the road, but isn't quite ready to settle yet (though maybe in the next few decades, once she gets Rowen properly trained by her mindset). A local of the Lake, a male swan of a similar background as her and serves as part of the male-squad that guards the settlement, has been quietly courting her when she is around.

Edited because Eira finally VERY reluctantly told me she has feelings for someone, though who it is will remain in my head canon (and thus not in this fanon) unless asked by the artist herself.

Who else should I start with other than my Champion herself, Eira? I'll probably go in Guard-rank, even though that gets REALLY cloudy after Third in Command.

Name: Eira Egosdottir
Age: 57
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 140 lbs
Swan Type: Tundra, subspecies Whistling ( www.tringa.org/images/0305_Tun… )
Weapon Specialty: Jack of All Trades; trained in broadsword, dagger, hand axe, shield, and bow and arrow
Home Region: Scandinavia
Parents: Egor and Senta
Personality: A bit on the overly serious side, she doesn't relax easily and only with people she knows well. To compound the issue, she's a little stand-offish and hard to get to know. That said, once you have her loyalty, she will stand beside you through fire and water. Very practical, she dislikes the full-champion garb that's traditional, so she tends to wear a simpler version of it for every day. She doesn't sing, mostly because she's a very mellow alto that has the embarrassing tendency to go flat, but she is a very graceful dancer. She can be seen dancing with her friends among her Guard when they force her to relax. She's a mediocre housewife—her food is simple but edible, both in a kitchen and over a campfire, and her sewing is great for mending but awful for anything fancy, but she does well with kids…now if only she had the desire to have any. More than any of her other troops, she has an itchy traveling foot.
Bio:
Childhood/Adolescence:
The first-born to a young couple who had a farm outside of a small swan-people (their preferred term) village, she was definitely a daddy's girl. But her parents drilled the need for responsibility into her head, so she was always helping in the house and fields as much as she could. Her parents carefully spaced out their children, so she grew up alongside the oldest three of her younger siblings, looking after them whenever their parents were distracted or out of the house.

In her mid-teens, she started begging her father for battle training early, and Egor didn't see any reason to deny her. Eira quickly showed an aptitude for weapon work and the drive to improve beyond what her father could teach her. He trained her in every weapon he knew, and sought out the aid of the village's wandering female squad for techniques he wasn't familiar with. As a result, Eira was very familiar with the members of the squad growing up.

Third Decade:
The fourth of Eira's younger siblings was born about midway through her twenties, and the first married a couple of years later, giving Eira the beginning of many nieces and nephews. The new couple settled just next door, and her family made plans to continue to settle in the same area. By this point, the small farm was beginning to feel like a small village to Eira. It didn't help that she was hearing stories from the same swan maidens who helped teach her weapon work. Finally, she appealed to her parents for permission to join the squad. Her mother had qualms, but eventually gave in. Eira was the youngest to join the squad in their records, but she passed the physical trial, and had several current members to vouch for her, including the "retiring" maiden who was leaving the squad to start a family.

Fourth Decade:
The fifth and sixth of Eira's younger siblings are born, twins, early in Eira's thirties. Unlike with her other siblings, she wasn't anywhere near the family farm at the time, but rather off with the squad exploring places she'd never even heard of, even seeing her first humans. She made friends with two other swan maidens, one close to her age, Rowen, and the other a bit older, Jordis. The three decided that they wanted to become the best fighters they could, and started sparring and practicing together every chance they could. Nothing either of the two could do would get Eira to learn the songs the squad sang around campfires or in taverns, but they did eventually get her to learn and participate in the circle dances.

Sadly, this wasn't all happy-times for Eira. One night, while she and Rowen were taking their turn for the nightly baths (white hair=twice daily baths MINIMUM just to keep it cleanish), two young noble brothers decided to try and steal their swan skins, left on the bank. The mythos of the swan maidens helped them, since the story does give them just enough of an edge to sneak to the lake edge. However, Eira used the dual nature of the all Solifidians to her advantage, preventing her from becoming the helpless maiden from the traditional story and instead aspects of the Valkyries mixed with her own nature. She was able to retrieve her swan skin without any real damage, and Rowen's as well, cementing the bond between them.

Fifth Decade:
The leader of the squad retires, and surprises everyone (including Eira) by naming her the new leader rather than her current second. But then, the two were the same age, and the second also retires a scant year later for the same reason as the previous leader—to have a family. Eira struggles at first to adjust to her change in status, and then has to train Rowen in second-duties, wanting to insure her back is always safe by someone she trusts to guard it and yank her chain if she's being stupid. The seventh (and last, so-swears Senta) of Eira's younger siblings is born, but she for the first time Eira wasn't there until months after the babe was born, and she would have no part in helping with raising the child, thanks to her duties.

As the new leader, Eira has to start visiting the Lake once every three years to pay homage to Kari, the then-Lunar-Champion, and the Champion's Guard. As a normal squad member, she merely hung out with other swan maidens and her squad while the leader and second were in council meetings, but that couldn't be the case anymore. Eira had to face Kari herself, and prove that she and Rowen were capable of handling the duties given to them. Kari rubbed Eira the wrong way, just from her base manner, but Eira tries to shrug it aside as just a duty to be suffered every three years. It was particularly distressing for her and the other swan maidens when Kari started refusing to let her Guard be challenged for their positions, but they didn't dare challenge her themselves.

Sixth Decade:
Trade at the Lake took a sudden dip that frightened all the villages, even Eira's home one far from it. Eira volunteered her squad to serve as a representative of Scandinavia, and the others agreed since, despite her still-considered youth, Eira was well-known for both her fighting skills and keeping a level, diplomatic head. Along with several other squads to represent the other regions where the swan maidens had carved out territories, Eira and the other leaders traveled to the lake to confront Kari about what was happening.

Kari had begun to place unfair taxes on trades within the Lake's walls, and demanding gifts from the merchants. Some of her Guard also were milking this to their advantage, though it was known that Tore, the second, took it out on them in training if she caught them. Kari mocked the other squad leaders and seconds, demanding to know what any of them could do.

Eira was the one who opened her mouth and declared a challenge on Kari for her title as Lunar Champion, though she barely remembers doing it—the result of one of the rare times her temper got away from her.

Needless to say, Eira won, though she will swear to this day that the Archetype stepped in at the end to insure that Eira won, She (and the archetype is feminine, like most lunar deities) was that fed up with Kari Herself. The last five years have been spent getting everything back in order that it belongs in, moving to the Lake, and letting the challenges among her Guard settle down after years of being blocked. Much like her initial leadership role, Eira left Tore in place, partly because Tore was an excellent fighter, mostly because she was familiar with the traditions and necessities of being Lunar Champion. Rowen has yet to complain about the situation to Eira's knowledge.

Within her first year as Champion, Rowen and Jordis joined her Guard. The members of her old squad who didn't try to challenge into her new Guard chipped in to commission her Champion armor, and her mother dug out the over-robe she'd been saving for Eira's wedding (now a distinct impossibility). They were gifted to her at her first Winter Solstice celebration as Champion, with other bits and pieces added to her Champion garb by Tore, Gersemi, and Iduna, the three who ended up wanting to stay on her Guard. It let her personalize her role as Champion, solidifying her change in status in her own mind.

She met the Archetype the first full-moon after her "promotion," via a dedication ceremony, and provided she is near a still enough body of water, she can still communicate with Her at night through serious meditation. Though Eira will be the first to admit it's a stupid idea to do it any other time than the full moon or close to it, due to the darker nature of some of the moon goddess/spirit mythos and their added strength the closer it is to a new moon. She would add that the times in-between, particularly the half-moons, are even worse due to the fact the two sides of the mythos are of equal strength and sometimes with opposite goals, all within the same Archetype.

On paper, Eira is the perfect champion for her particular race and Archetype. She has no desire to settle down in life and raise a family, nor does she have family pressure to do so because of her numerous siblings do it for her. Her love of travel insures that she'll be able to check on the status of villages for herself, as well as stay abridged with what the humans are doing (even if it means trying to catch up with her for a decision is difficult). It might annoy some people that she isn't always at the Lake, but since she checks in routinely, it isn't as bad as it could be. Her Guard likes to tease her about her cold bed, but Eira acts painfully shy about it for reasons that has Rowen and Jordis at least a little suspicious about whether maybe she does have her eye on someone, she just won't approach whoever it is.

...Because I'm insane. *eyeroll* I'm doing the ENTIRE Champion's Guard. And rather than try to stick a whole bio into the picture description (because that would get clunky), I'm doing it here. First, a much more organized set of information about swan maidens.

The mythical beings of swan maidens and valkyries got merged at some point thanks to various stories. A swan maiden has the ability to turn into a swan at will as long as she is in possession of her swan skin. Because of their mythos, while immortal like other Solifidians, swan maidens are typical stuck in their mid-twenties at the oldest. A serious wound can be healed by simply changing shapes, but that's about the only magic that they have (annoyingly, hair regrows too). Perhaps to make up for it, they are all notoriously fierce warriors. A single swan maiden can defeat three men with little concern for her own safety, which is why when a man gets it into his head to steal her swan skin, he has to be sneaky about it and have LOTS of back-up. Swan maidens are considered prizes by some human men for brides...unfortunately, keeping them tends to be a bit of a hassle. They also always breed true, even with humans, so the kids tend to side with their mama.

Despite the misleading name, there are male versions of this race, they are just rarely seen outside of the villages--most male battle units serve as guard for the various villages scattered across the globe. The females are the ones who explore the most outside of their small settlements. Units are always gender-segregated. A single village is around 200 couples on average, not counting single adults and children. All species of swan exist, though usually a village is home to only one kind. The exception is a village that serves more as a trading hub than anything else, referred to as the Lake. Only swan maidens or other Solifidians are allowed to visit, and it is considered the home of the Champion and their Guard. It's location is top-secret, so only a few Solifidians who aren't swan maidens even know about its existence. Perhaps because of this, it is one of the safest places for them to live. Some families choose to live outside of the villages to have farms, leading them to be considered "country."

The swan maidens are valued by the Moon archetype due to their innate connection with the sky due to their ability to fly, while at the same time they are able to freely interact with humans, much like the light of the moon. A swan maiden's first chance to shed her skin to take a human form can only occur on the water lit by moonlight, perhaps because of this link. The Archetype itself is a bit...bipolar due to the mixed-batch of mythos it represents. Sometimes it will even have arguments with itself if the dark side disagrees with the light side. As a result, it has long since left the choosing of the champion to the swan people themselves. It has developed into a challenge of single-combat with the current Champion, with the winner either killing or banishing the loser. Banishment among the swan maidens occurs when their skin is taken away and destroyed, rendering them forever mortal.

The Champion's Guard are elite fighters, said to be the best of the entire race, who serve alongside the Champion. Currently, there are ten of them, all female: Brenda and Herdis, both Whooper swan-types; Gersemi, Jordis, and Rowen, all three Tundra swan-types like Eira; Iduna, a Mute swan-type (and literally mute); Vigdis, Sigdis, and Signe, all three Black swan-types like the previous Champion, Kari, and the latter two being twin sisters; and Tore, a Trumpeter swan-type. Gersemi, Iduna, and Tore all served under Kari, with Tore even being her old second in command, a position Eira kept her in. Jordis and Rowen came from Eira's old unit, with Rowen previously serving as Eira's second and now as her third in command.

Edited to reflect the artist's choice to narrow the swan maidens down to the moon archetype

Swan maidens breed by conscious choice. Both partners in the union have to want to have a child, and be firm in the decision. It makes marriages run a lot smoother, and lets the unhappy ones fall apart with little fanfare. The exception to this rule are the swan maidens currently blackmailed into being married to a mortal man who has stolen their swan skin. They have to remain near the skin, even if it isn't in their possession, to retain their immortality, so these women are held at the whims of their husbands if they want to ever return to their normal lives--at least until the men either die or the children from the union lead her to her swan skin. However, because of how they breed, they lose all control in the decision without their skin. Meaning: as long as the bastard who has their swan skin wants a kid and her body can healthily bear a child, she's going to get pregnant.

The marriage trap that is part of their mythos makes most swan maidens downright resentful of medians, especially after what happened to the dragons. The worst of them hate them and will kill them on sight; the best of them will be tolerant for at least a time. The swan maidens with stolen skins fear them, since they can change the story before they have a chance to be free of their human husbands.

Children (sometimes jokingly called cygnets, like real baby swans) are born in human shapes and numbers (no batches of eggs). They grow up at the same rate as a human would. With the onset of puberty, at a random point in their early teens (usually at 13) they will turn into a swan with the rising of the full moon, and can only return to their human form by swimming on to a lake/pond/sea while the moon is still visible. If they are somehow kept from the water, for whatever reason, they are stuck as a swan until the next full moon. After returning to their human shape for the first time, they will now have the legendary swan skin to keep track of should they wish to remain a member of their race. If they stray too far from their skin (about half a mile) or it is destroyed, they will become mortals. When they reach their late teens/early twenties, they will stop physically aging almost entirely.

The Moon archetype is...complicated. Due to the fact there are usually two types of god(dess)/mythical figures, She has two very conflicting personality types trying to gain control. They usually change with the phases of the moon. When the moon is closer to being full, She takes on the good, if impartial, personality that forms from goddesses such as Artemis/Diana, Selene/Luna, Ataegina, and Elatha. But as it grows closer to new, She begins to take on the more vengeful figures such as Hecate/Trivia, Arianrhod, Mano, and Tsukuyomi. (Please note, despite the more common knowledge of female moon goddesses, there are actually more moon gods. This might explain why She is a warrior.) During the full moon, She is entirely good, and during the new, She is entirely vengeful and dangerous, but in between She is certifiably insane, and can change Her opinion at the flip of a coin.

When She takes a physical form (in front of a median, for example), She is formed out of silver outlining/lettering, and while She has no discernible legs due to Her floor-length "skirt," She does has a cape-like extension that mimics the shape of Her swan maidens' swan skins down Her back, Her "hair" shaped in a knot at the base of Her neck. The names making up Her form mimic Her state of mind, making the names of more vengeful appear the closer to the new moon and the more impartial/good closer to the full. As far as Her powers, the moon is associated with healing, curses, and (of course) light. However, Her magic just isn't seen in Her Champions, unless they petition Her and She decides to grant it, with the added complication of only the light side can heal and only the dark side can curse.

...Yeah, I'm obsessed. Obviously. Because my gallery is literally OVERFLOWING with her designs. :giggle: I can't help it! I'm having way too much fun with her as an RP character. She's even making a guest appearance in a horror story I have to write for my short story class this semester as the tech wizard for a mercenary.

I'm also going to try and draw her by hand. Pray for me. But there are some scenes with her and Scor (yes, Scorpius Malfoy, NarnianQueenForever and I are crack shipping and it is SAPPY and ADORABLE and SQUEEEE!), and later with her and Emily (their adopted daughter, LONG story) that I want to at least attempt.

As a continuation of grad school woes...the university LOST my application for admission into grad school. They stuck it somewhere because, of course, the only thing it needed to be complete was a transcript FROM THEM, so they thought they could do it later.

...

If I don't get enough financial aid, I am going to be SO ANNOYED with them... :shakefist:

But thankfully, my apartment complex is being understanding of my situation, since I can't renew my lease if I don't know if I'm going to be there for another year or not. Small favors. ^^;

So, problem. Well, a few problems. All writing related in some way.

1) I am SO CLOSE to finishing MULTIPLE fanfics, two of them the first in big, fat serials. Problem? I have no time to write them, because of the sheer number of monster papers I have due this semester. (One 7-8 page with no topic, one 15 page with a THESIS (I am so proud of that, took me forever), another 15 page where I can't make up my mind on which of two topics to use, and then a 8-10 page paper that is either me analyzing one magazine/publication, or creating my own, and I can't pick! I'm usually so decisive...)

2) ...Too many monster papers (see above). @_@ I guess this is what I get for taking some of my classes the way I have this semester, it's all payment so next semester is stupidly easy. It just leaves me feeling really stressed, especially because I need my grade point average to be a 3.4. This means I need two A's out of five. I think I can have more than that, but at the same time, it is SO STRESSFUL, especially on top of the below...

3) I'm trying to get into grad school for novel writing, which is a headache because I'm basically doing a year's worth of work in six months. I gave up the idea of grad school as a sophomore and never looked at it again. Now, I'm having to look into the GRE (that they thankfully made easier this year, YAY!), and get all the forms filled out, and get letters of recommendation straightened out, and get financial aid, because I can't take out anymore loans, I HAVE to have an assistantship or at least my tuition paid for and enough time in the week to find work to pay rent/bills/fees/groceries (min is 36 hours at min pay). Thank God Tutorial is helping me get fifty pages of writing sample prepped, so I have that done (or, almost done).

4) As a continuation of grad school woes, I need to kinda have my grad-project in mind. I have two big projects, both with their own sets of problems. There's my vampire (I know, I know, no more vamps, but mine go back to vampire-roots) series, but see, it's a SERIES, I'd get probably the first one written, but the first has a MONSTER of a cliff hanger for the next one. The other is my animated series/movie (it keeps going back-and-forth in my head), but I have NO idea how to do any kind of screen writing and then there's the added problem of I would probably want to do commissions of the main characters and then what the background characters would look like. I don't have that kind of money. Even if I just do sketchy-things for the background characters, it is still going to rack up pretty quickly...

I'm tempted to post summaries of the two different projects up to see kinda what general-interest would be in them, but that's a scary idea. o_o I mean, I'm PARANOID about my ideas getting out there in any way, even just general summaries, and someone grabbing them for their own.

This rant is inspired by artworks (PLURAL!) I have seen around dA.

Our society's view of beauty? F*cked up beyond belief. I know this. As a relatively pretty person on my good days, the fact that I have no bust (I'm an A, okay?) but have more than my fair share of weight around my butt, hips, and middle that makes me a size 18 in bottoms, that this SOMEHOW makes me one of the most unattractive people to our society? Bugs me. But I know that there ain't a lot I can do about it.

Still, it bothers me more so when women who are not perfectly fit are drawn in a way that is horrible, with all of these rolls and over exaggerated weight when in comparison to their height... Parody or not, what the hell is that supposed to say to those of us who are heavier? That we are ugly? That we are something to be laughed at?

BULLSH*T!!!

I certainly don't see the humor in it. All I see is people ADDING to our society's problem of creating set rules for what is and is not acceptable in our appearances. I am PROUD of how I look. Obviously, I think that I am fairly pretty (not a model, mind you, but pretty), and I hate that society keeps trying to tell me and others like me that we can't possible be attractive because we don't fit in to their mold. THIS ISN'T TRUE!

So, do this for me. Next time you see someone who has put some sort of effort into how they appear, regardless of their weight but especially if they are heavy set, tell them how great they look today. Trust me, we need to hear it.

(And as a note: first health nut to grip about weight vs. health gets a shoe thrown at them. I eat healthy, I exercise, I am RARELY sick, my blood sugar is great. And for the record, I am almost six foot tall and a size 18. While this would have been REALLY tall, this was the IDEAL physique of a noble in medieval times. Obviously, there wasn't anything wrong with it THEN, and judging from Disney, we are all obsessed with that time...)

Okay, so I've created an entire folder dedicated to tribal-themed tattoos. Anyone who knows me and sees this page, DON'T FREAK OUT! I am NOT getting one. They are for a character I may or may not be drawing who has a lot of ink on her body as a catalyst to keep her...well, to keep her as sane as possible. -_- Eva has issues.

In other news, yes, I'm ATTEMPTING to make an AMV that I will post to YouTube when I finish it (it will be the only video I ever post, I'm sure). I will post screen shots as I finish them, because honestly I am INSANELY proud of my sketches already, all but one is absolutely perfect, and I don't know how to fix the one, so I'll be satisfied with almost perfect (I hate drawing faces at weird angles/expressions, that's the entire problem with the one sketch). Some I won't post because they are just slight changes in posture or expression from the previous or next frame, so it only makes sense to post one of them. But you all will be the first to see them!

And last but not least, any dragon drawers/Inheritance fans, I've got some readers who would like my fanfiction story, Eyes of Jade, to have a simplified version of the story made into a comic of sorts. Any takers?

So, I'm finally going to stop being lazy and pop my self on to this site. I don't expect to keep up with the journal, I'll probably update it as often as I update my FF.net profile. Speaking of, I've decided not to post those up there, simply to redirect people here. I'd like to see Fan Art, but I'm not holding my breath.
